A surprise OnePlus contender may crash the flagship party early if whispers of a expedited OnePlus 12R/Ace 3 launch prove true. Prolific leaker Digital Chat Station lit rumor mills ablaze by posting detailed alleged specs for a 12-series value variant headed for China by December.
So far OnePlus teased only its premium 12 flagship bound for January’s global unveil. But momentum builds around a budget-friendlier spinoff phone seemingly codenamed Ace 3 for home turf. The rumored Ace branding follows prior tradition of past R-series phones tailored specifically to Chinese customers.
Not that the reported Ace 3 scrimps much on power if specs hold up. DCS assertions point to the same bleeding edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 silicon fueling the OnePlus 12. Equally impressive, the alleged 5500mAh battery dwarfs even the 12’s hearty 5000mAh capacity, yet charges just as rapidly at up to 100W speeds.
The leaker also namechecks a curved 6.7″ panel with resolution and brightness figures approaching the flagship model’s lavish display. Such next-gen internals crammed into a cheaper chassis could disrupt expectations of performance compromises.
In fact enthusiasts speculate based on plans for a December China-only launch that OnePlus may position this mysterious Ace 3 phone as a regional exclusive. Potentially perfected for Eastern preferences, it could stand proudly alongside the OnePlus 12 rather than in its shadow.
Of course ambiguity lingers over the device’s very existence until OnePlus formally acknowledges it. Yet if real, the Ace 3 seems ready to provide premium power in a more accessible form factor – and on surprisingly short notice this very month.
